Have you bought what you thought was going to be the best copper spray paint and it wasn’t metallic copper at all? What the heck, the cap is a beautiful copper but the paint is flat & orange! Lies!!!!
I am a spray paint addict, especially when it comes to metallics. I’ve been on a mission to try find the best gold, silver, and now copper.

I spent a relaxing Sunday last weekend browsing Home Depot for an hour or two & decided to go down the spray paint aisle “just to see”. What’s this on the top shelf? A new copper spray paint!!!!!!!
I looked around to make sure it wasn’t a trap, snatched the can of Rustoleum Bright Coat in Copper, then made my way to checkout.

I’ve had this trellis in my backyard rusting for years bc I just never had a use for it, but didn’t want to throw it out either. Perfect for experimenting on!

After lots of sanding, an overnight rust converter treatment, and a quick coat of primer it was finally time to spray the best copper paint ever!

I love, love, love copper when it’s newly polished with a pink undertone so I wanted to see it compared to actual copper.
It is a perfect match!

Now, as a heads up, this paint is really not for exterior applications because it will tarnish. I like the way copper tarnishes, so we shall see how it goes over the next couple of months.
Also, no you can not put a clear coat to protect it. I’ve tried them all & it will take away the metallic luster. If you use it indoors, you do not have to worry about tarnish. Rustoleum’s copper spray paint is so easy to apply anyways, so if I need to refresh it later it will take all of 15 minutes.

If you love copper, you will probably love the look of whitewashed brick too!
